Our goal as Personal Trainers is to provide you with a knowledgeable staff and a comfortable setting to train in. We also pride ourselves in the way we train to your needs and not a predetermined format. We understand that you want to get results as fast as possible and we want that for you as well, but we refuse to compromise your well-being in order to get quicker results.
Yes we do. Our health and fitness assessment is the most important service that we offer. It’s very important in helping you reach your fitness goals. It gives us an idea of where you are mentally and physically. Once we have evaluated you we can accurately prescribe exercises that will have the desired effect on your body.
This is one of the keys to our success; understanding your individual needs and prescribing the exercises you need to excel. Many gyms gloss over an initial assessment. This can lead to unnecessary injuries and an ineffective exercise prescription. This is something that we look to avoid at all costs. Archetype fitness is a local company that was started by ACSM Certified Personal Trainer Chad Heschong in 2010. We recently added a new trainer, Ben Price, to our staff. Both Chad and Ben were born and raised in Marin County and have ties to local high schools and colleges. We love living in Marin and look forward to becoming a bigger part of the community in the near future! More about Chad and Ben…

What to wear to a training session
For your lower body, shorts are always a good choice. Some people prefer long pants as well (i.e. track pants or spandex). For your upper body, T-shirts are the way to go, especially if they are made from a dry-fit or moisture wicking material that will keep you nice and dry despite sweating. Some people prefer cut off sleeves or tank tops because they “breathe” better.to a training session
What not to wear to a training session
For your lower body, avoid jeans at all costs. They are extremely difficult to move and do not breathe well, which can cause discomfort during a workout. For your upper body, try to stay away from constricting shirts. Layering shirts can be an issue as well.
We recommend wearing some kind of cross training shoe. You want it to be supportive, but allow flexibility at the same time. You should avoid sandals, boots and flats (Vans). None of these shoes give the support or flexibility that you need in a shoe.
Note: Remember we want you to be as comfortable as possible while you exercise. Your attire should reflect that.
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Obviously, we will work around emergencies or accidents. However if a client is a “no-show” and we did not receive notice of cancellation, they will be charged for the session.
