At Archetype Fitness, we like to think of corrective exercises as “pre-habilitation”, or the process of addressing your issues before the need for rehabilitation. Are we always able to reach out to you before you need rehab? No. However, one of our main focuses is that we are able to assess your body issues and offer corrective exercises that will continue the recovery process.
The benefits of corrective exercises are numerous. When muscles and joints get out of balance, the body tries to compensate. This can lead to a number of issues such as muscles imbalances, poor posture and injury. We prescribe corrective exercises to combat these issues.
Muscle and postural imbalances can be created a number of ways. Postural issues can arise because of long commutes to work or sitting in an office chair for eight hours a day. They can occur in sports when an over use of certain muscle groups cause an imbalance which could lead to discomfort or injury.
To assess your needs, we look at your daily activity. Do you work in front of a computer for eight hours a day or do you hit 200 forehands, five days a week. All these factors can tip us off to possible imbalances and allow us to prescribe the necessary corrective exercises.
